There are a lot of great options available to you this time of year. Along with our great lineup of farm-raised Atlantic salmon (Loch Duart Scottish, Claire Island Irish Organic, and Canadian Atlantic), there are a lot of great wild fish available right now. Quileute River coho’s, Snow Pass sockeyes, Cook Inlet sockeyes, Barkley Sound sockeyes, open-water troll kings, and Cook Inlet kings will be available all week! Cohos should be available now through October, and prices are very favorable!
Ask your rep about all of our different trout options. We promise to have something to fit your needs. Currently, we are stocking Norwegian ocean trout (beautiful, large fish, 8#+, with incredible fat content), and farm-raised rainbow trout (red or white meat) from Idaho and Colorado!
Lobsters (live Maine) are starting to level off as new shells are ready to go. Chicks and quarters are down, and 1.5s and up should be ready in the next week.
Island Creek oysters continue to be on “super allocation.” We will have limited availability now through September, which is when their supply should be back to normal.
Looks like another good week for soft-shell crabs! It has been a great season so far and looks like it will continue well into August. This is a “preorder”-only item, so please talk to your rep if you would like some for this week.
As we are still in the hottest months of the year, it is very important to remember to keep all of your shellfish iced down extremely well. Hard-shell clams, mussels, and oysters tend to be extra vulnerable to heat. To help prevent dead-loss and spawn issues, please ice all of your shellfish very well. When you think you have too much ice, add another scoop.
Wild striped bass are back in season, and the fish have been looking great! Along with these, we have monkfish, market cod, and haddock. We should have some dab fillets arriving midweek.
Alaskan halibut is in limited supply this week, and prices are very high. High winds have kept the boats at bay. The weekend looks like it could provide some relief, however.
Pacific cod will also be in short supply this week, with better availability heading into the weekend.
Lots of other great WC options are in-house and available, including petrale sole, corvina seabass, ocean perch, rockfish, black cod, yellowtail, fresh Dungeness meat, and grouper.
Good availability out of the Gulf this week. Swordfish, yellowtail snappers, mahi mahi, escolar, and yellowfin (ahi) tuna are all in good supply.
Hot temperatures are keeping the fish in deeper, cooler waters. Until we see a nice string of cooler days, availability out of this area will be nonexistent. This affects walleye, whitefish, perch, buffalo, and carp.
Albacore tuna, ono (wahoo), opah, spearfish, and onaga are in house for the week. We will be looking to add more options for the weekend.
Ask your rep about our long list of sustainable items, including Fresh Farm-Raised Icelandic Arctic Char, CCI All-Natural Colorado Trout, Loch Duart Salmon, Gigha Island Halibut, New Zealand Abalone, MSC-Certified Chilean Sea Bass, Colorado Hybrid Striped Bass, and more.
